TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The school where 7-year-old Jacob Baer was in second grade is creating a student project in his memory.
Police confirmed Sunday that the boy’s body was found in the West Twin River after a day of searching. Officials said the boy, who had autism, was playing outside when a parent lost sight of him.
Now, Koenig Elementary School is honoring the 7-year-old’s love for nature, particularly pinecones. The school is accepting donations of pinecones with open scales, creamy peanut butter and bird seed so all students can create pinecone bird feeders. Donations are being accepted at the school, 1114 Lowell St., through Thursday.
The school is also encouraging students to wear green, Baer’s favorite color, on Tuesday.
Counselors are available Monday at each school in the Two Rivers district for anyone affected by the boy’s death.
