ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A semi hit the underside of the Highway 172 bridge along Riverside Drive Monday morning.
Around 9:50 a.m., a truck was headed southbound and struck two girders on the underside of the bridge across Riverside Drive.
The truck had an oversized load and the driver was unfamiliar with the road, according to Lt. Jason McAuly of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
No one was hurt.
The crash bent one of the steel girders and caused cosmetic damage to the other.
Engineers inspected the bridge and say the bridge is safe for all travel.
On a later date, crews will conduct heat-straightening operations on the bent girder. Those dates will be announced on the Northeast Region Weekly Maintenance Traffic Advisory.
Both directions of Riverside Drive were closed until 3:30 p.m.
