GREEN LAKE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An investigation is underway after the body of a Green Lake County man was found in the Fox River.
According to a news release, sheriff’s officials received a call around 8:30 a.m. Monday that a 75-year-old male had not returned home. When a relative went looking for the man, his vehicle was discovered in the Fox River, adjacent to his property.
Law enforcement located the man’s body outside the vehicle, which was surrounded by ice. The man was pronounced dead.
Water rescue equipment was used to recover the body, and a tow company assisted in removing the vehicle from the river.
Authorities say ice conditions “indicated that the incident had not happened Monday morning” and made the recovery tasks “hazardous and difficult.”
The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
