GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Children’s Museum of Green Bay says it needs the community’s support to start its expansion project.
The museum says through its Reaching New Heights campaign, it has raised 62%, about $4 million, of its $6.5 million goal to add on to the museum.
It is now calling on the public to close the remaining gap.
This expansion will more than double visitor capacity, add state-of-the-art exhibits, and enhance accessibility for underserved families.
“This campaign is about much more than just a new brick-and-mortar location; it’s about creating a space where every child in our community can unlock their potential,” said executive director, Toni Burnett.
The expansion project includes:
- 16,000 sq. ft. of additional space, increasing visitor capacity from 350 to 1,100.
- 2,000 sq. ft. of traveling gallery space, enabling new exhibits every six months.
- A STEAMworks Lab for hands-on scientific, engineering, and technology activities.
- A Trades and Training exhibit to inspire future builders and tradespeople.
- A Hardware Store with interactive stations, including blueprint building, painting, a LEGO zone, and a tool section.
- A Farm and Dairy exhibit where children can experience farm life, such as milking a cow and baling hay.
“Reaching this goal requires community support,” said Burnett. “We need everyone’s help to ensure continued momentum—through donations, volunteering, or sharing our campaign with others.”

The expansion project is expected to complete sometime in 2025.
In 2019, the museum moved from its downtown Green Bay location where expansion was not possible to its current space directly across the street from Bay Beach Amusement Park.
