APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Residents in Northeast Wisconsin are preparing for Thanksgiving.
Appleton International Airport expects Wednesday to be the busiest travel day in the airport’s history. ATW has 26 flights departing.
Airport director Abe Weber says about 5,000 passengers will come through the terminal Wednesday, which is about a 37% increase over last year.
He says so far flights are on time and TSA lines are moving efficiently.
“The TSA does a phenomenal job here in Appleton, keeping things moving along. We like to say, ‘from curb to gate in 15 minutes’ and they always prove us right,” Weber said.
Some passengers were flying out of ATW for the first time.
“I’ve never been at this airport before,” Joanne Shepich said. Shepich typically flies out of Milwaukee’s General Mitchell. “This is a new experience.”
Weber says today and every day, travelers should download their airlines app for the most up to date information on departure times, and may want to consider ATW Express for ease of travel.
