APPLETON, Wis. (WLUK) – One man is in custody and an Appleton neighborhood is on edge following a weapons call and chase Sunday morning.
Police were called to the 1800 block of S. Sanders Street at about 7:30 a.m., just a few blocks west of Ascension NE Wisconsin – St. Elizabeth Campus.
“Some officers were securing that scene and the suspect fled in a vehicle so the remaining officers got into a pursuit with that vehicle,” said Lt. Meghan Cash with the Appleton Police Department.
That pursuit ended in the area of Highway J and I-41, with the suspect from the weapons complaint taken into custody.
Appleton Police wouldn’t confirm the incident was a shooting referring to it only as a weapons complaint. They also wouldn’t say if there are any victims.
Neighbors say a single, older man, lives in the house that was tapped off. “Nobody knows what went down and I guess we’re all going to have to wait and see what happens,” said Piette.
Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Appleton Police Department at (920) 832-5500.
