(WNFL) – The Edgar Wildcats laid claim to the WIAA Division 7 state football crown Thursday with a 19-0 win over Potosi/Cassville.
Edgar took a 12-0 lead in the first quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Will Hackel and a 12-yard run by Maverick Butt.
Butt would add another touchdown in the fourth quarter, scoring on an 8-yard pass from Tucker Streit.
It was a defensive-oriented game with Edgar managing just 119 yards of offense while Potosi/Cassville finished with 158.
Isaiah Groom of Potosi/Cassville was the leading rusher in the game with 77 yards on 17 carries.
It is Edgar’s second consecutive Division 7 title and fourth appearance in the championship game in the last 6 seasons.
Potosi last appeared in a state final football game in 2012.\
