MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court heard arguments Monday in a challenge to Wisconsin Elections Administrator Meghan Wolfe’s continued employment. Republicans in the State Senate believe Wolfe should step down because her term expired last year.
Justice Jill Karofsky says Republicans won a case two years ago, which allows for Wolfe to stay in place.
“Six of the seven of us sat in this courtroom two years ago when your client insisted that Fred Prehn should be able to retain his position on the DNR board, even though his six year term had expired, and your client won.”
The six-member Wisconsin Elections Commission decided to not forward a recommendation at the end of Wolfe’s term, and are relying on the Supreme Court’s former ruling to keep her in place.
