FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday for a state-of-the-art assisted living facility in Winnebago County.
CopperStone Assisted Living & Memory Care is opening a 75-unit, 72,000-square-foot assisted living community in Fox Crossing. It will be located just a few miles away from their current 61-unit development.
Owners Aaron and Nicole Barrett say the goal of their expansion is to be able to offer more seniors in the Fox Valley area high-quality care in a comfortable environment, while also promoting independence and dignity.
It comes at a critical time, as Wisconsin’s population of people 75 years or older will increase by 75% by 2040 — what the health care industry is calling the “Silver Tsunami.”
“The demand is so high, as we have a lot of the baby boomers aging into the care setting. We’ve been seeing consistent 100% occupancies, not much bed availability. We probably get half a dozen calls a week of folks looking for a care facility, and there just is no availability in our market,” Nicole said.
The new CopperStone Assisted Living community will feature a variety of living options, including one-bedroom and studio apartments. According to the Barretts, the facility will be designed to meet the unique needs of seniors requiring various levels of care as they age.
In addition to assisted living services, the facility will also have 20 units for specialized memory care, tailored to residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
Amenities include full-service dining, a coffee bar, a library and outdoor spaces with walking trails promoting recreation and relaxation.
“We already have plans, we’re working with Fox Crossing. We’ve talked to them about further projects after this one, based on how quickly the project picks up. We expect it to fill very quickly and we have great staff, great team, so as long as the demand is there, as everything shows it will be, we’ll continue to go forward,” Aaron said.
Construction on the new facility is scheduled to begin in December 2024 and is projected to be completed in fall 2025.
24-hour personalized care will be available at the new CopperStone Assisted Living & Memory Care facility, creating more than 50 jobs.
