(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College sophomore forward Logan Dombrowsky figured in on every goal for the Green Knights, who defeated the University of Dubuque 5-2 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association opener for both teams at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (3-0, 1-0 NCHA), ranked No. 5 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, got two goals and three assists from Dombrowsky, whose five points was a career high.
St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead when Brock Baker pounded home a power-play goal from the doorstep at the 16:43 mark.
Dombrowsky registered a power-play goal of his own 45 seconds into the second period for a quick 2-0 lead. Liam Fraser tallied his first goal of the season with a power-play goal at 6:47. Dombrowsky then scored his fourth goal of the young season when he scored unassisted off a Dubuque turnover deep in its own zone at the 9:50 mark of the second period for a 4-0 lead.
Dubuque would make a push in the third period, with Nikita Borodayenko scored a power-play goal at 5:59. Owen Hardy then added a goal at 9:06 to cut the deficit to two goals. St. Norbert then converted another power-play goal to salt the game away when Carter Hottmann finished in traffic out front at 17:08.
In addition to Dombrowsky’s big night, Hottmann had one goal and two assists for three points. Fraser had one goal and one assist for two points, while Dayton Deics had two assists for two points.
St. Norbert outshot Dubuque 46-23. Hunter Garvey made 21 saves for the Green Knights, who were 4-for-5 on the power play. The Spartans were 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
