(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Green Bay volleyball team had their best offensive performance of the season on Friday night, downing the IU Indy Jaguars 3-1. As a team, the Phoenix put together a .419 attack percentage led by 18 kills from Cora Behnke, who hit .349 individually.
The win boosted the Phoenix’s record to 12-15 overall and 9-6 in Horizon League play. GB is tied for third in HL with Cleveland State.
On the offensive side of the ball, Danilynn Schell chipped in with 11 kills and Katie Schulz finished with 10. GB got 11 digs from Emma Best to lead them defensively. Blocking was a strong point for the Phoenix, with Schell, Olivia Neumann, and Diane Pichelman each finishing with four a piece. Calli Gentry finished the night with 46 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Jaguars jumped out to a 10-4 lead, however that would not be enough, as the Phoenix stormed all the way back to take the first set 25-23. Green Bay put together a .481 attack percentage with 13 kills in the frame, six of those coming from Behnke. GB also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | IU Indy bounced back in set two with a 26-24 win to tie the match up at 1-1. Both teams hit well in the set, with GB finishing .429 and IU Indy finishing with a .308 hitting percentage.
SET 3 | Green Bay then got back on the winning track, emerging victorious in set three and taking a two sets to one lead. The two teams battled their way to 20-20 before GB finished the set on a 5-2 run to take it 25-22.
SET 4 | Green Bay kept the momentum going, earning the match win with a 25-18 fourth-set victory. After grabbing a 2-1 lead, the Phoenix never trailed again. Green Bay the frame with a 6-0 run.
GAME NOTES
» Friday night was the first time Green Bay has hit .400+ in a match this season.
» Green Bay had 10 blocks to IU Indy’s two.
» Kendall Schara had a team-high two aces.

Green Bay will finish their two-game set against IU Indy tomorrow at 1 p.m. before closing the season out with a pair of games at home against Robert Morris. The two teams will face off on Friday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.
