FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Republican Rep. Glenn Grothman was reelected Tuesday to Wisconsin’s 6th Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Grothman, a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump, defeated Democratic challenger, John Zarbano.
This will be Grothman’s sixth term in the reliably Republican district that includes rural, suburban and exurban communities between Madison, Milwaukee and Green Bay.
“I’d like to thank the people that voted for me. I have a great staff, both in Washington and in Fond du Lac. They do a great job of outreach and dealing with all the problems that constituents have. And I would like to thank them for their huge contribution in me being given a sixth term,” Grothman said after he was declared the victor.
Zarbano reflected on his campaign and said he hopes to run for office again someday.
“This is a ruby red district. I knew that when I started. We started a year ago and it’s been a lot of hard work, it’s been rewarding. I’ve had the best time of my life seeing all the people,” Zarbano said. “We have over 8,000 farms in the Wisconsin 6th Congressional District and over a million acres of farm land. I’ve seen them all from north and south on I-41 and I-51 to east and west on 23 and 60. So, it’s been fun. It’s been a really good experience and I hope to do it again.”
