(WTAQ-WLUK) — You’re getting an extra hour of sleep this morning, but at what cost?
How much extra time is wasted manually clicking back your bedside clock, your kitchen clock, your car clock, and your watch clock? It matters not. It must happen anyway: Daylight Saving Time came to an end at 2:00am, November 3, 2024. With Central Daylight Saving Time ending (CDST), this means the return of Central Standard Time (CST).
While we gain an extra hour of sleep Sunday, time change is a good reminder to check batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms.
Daylight Saving Time ending also means earlier sunsets and longer darkness hours. Expect total daylight hours to be around 9 hours for the rest of November, and around 8 hours of daylight in December.
The shortest day of the year will be December 21, when Winter Solstice occurs. After December 21 is when we start to gain daylight back.
