HOBART, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The village of Hobart broke ground on a project that developers believe will cater to the needs of both residents and visitors.
The $17 million Larsen Orchard Terrace at Centennial Centre Business Park along Highway 29 will be a four-story apartment complex with 66 higher end apartment units and four commercial retail spaces.
Chad Calmes, CEO of Bayland Buildings Inc. says the project fulfills the vision of a walkable downtown for the area.
“Bayland Buildings has been pretty instrumental in developing a lot of the commercial space around this area and some of the feedback we’ve gotten already has been for that walkable downtown so there’s obviously a need for more residential units in this area so it kind of fulfills that need and also gives people that shop space so we’re going to have terrace, outdoor seating areas for small shops, restaurants, coffee shops, things like that,” Calmes said.
The project is expected to take 18 months to build and should be completed in March or April of 2026.
There’s already been strong interest in the commercial spaces, Calmes said. Those details he expects will be released within the next year or so.
