OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oshkosh Area School District (OASD) Board of Education approved a decrease in the school tax levy for 2024-2025.
The Board voted to reduce the overall school tax levy by 5.05% compared to the 2023-24 school year, resulting in a $3,509,585 decrease in the total levy.
“We understand and take seriously our responsibility to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, especially during challenging economic times,” said Beth Wyman, OASD Board of Education President. “This significant reduction in our tax levy is a conscious effort to help offset the impact of rising costs on our community while maintaining our commitment to educational excellence.”
The tax levy reduction was made possible through two key factors:
- An increase in state aid resulting from the District’s proactive approach to debt management, specifically through the strategic prepayment of debt.
- Decreased operational costs achieved through consolidation savings from Phase 1 of the District’s four-phase facilities plan.
The savings achieved through strategic debt management and facilities consolidation will continue to benefit the Oshkosh community for generations to come.
