OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh teenager is in custody after police say he pointed a facsimile gun at a group of people and threatened to kill them.
The incident happened at approximately 12:35 p.m. Tuesday at the Skate Park in the 1500 block of Taft Avenue in Oshkosh.
According to a news release, officers were dispatched for a reported disturbance at the Skate Park involving several juveniles, one of which had displayed a handgun. Police say the gun was actually a replica.
When police arrived on scene, the group of juveniles ran to the 1000 Block of N. Lark Street. At that point, a 16-year-old Oshkosh male took out the facsimile gun “and was pointing it at several people and threatening to kill them.”
The teen fled when officers attempted to make contact. He was arrested after a short pursuit for disorderly conduct, resisting an officer and seven counts of recklessly endangering safety.
Oshkosh West High School was placed in a secure status for about 15 minutes as a result of this incident. No one was injured.
