(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON, Wis. – Carter Booth of the Wisconsin volleyball team was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, announced Monday afternoon.
The six-foot-seven middle blocker helped the Badgers to a 2-0 week with victories over No. 11 Oregon and Michigan. In eight total sets, Booth averaged 1.88 blocks per set, including a career-night of 12.0 total blocks Sunday at Michigan. With 12.0 blocks in a single match, Booth ranks fourth this season in the NCAA for the most blocks by an individual in a four-set match. On that night, the Badgers also set a program record for most blocks (21.0) in a four-set match. The previous record happened in October of 2021 against Ohio State where UW racked up 19.0 blocks.
Offensively, Booth also chipped in with 1.50 kills per set, offensively, and 2.63 points per set.
This marks the second time Booth has earned the accolade.
Next up, the Badgers remain on the road and will travel to Indiana for a match against the Hoosiers Thursday at 6 p.m. CST and then follow-up two days later against No. 10 Purdue at 2:30 p.m. CST.
