(BIG EAST) NEW YORK – Marquette University senior men’s golfer Patrick Adler is the BIG EAST Conference Male Golfer of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Adler earned a share of his second medalist honors in as many events to lead the Golden Eagles to a team title in the RedHawk Intercollegiate at the Pittsburgh Field Club on Monday and Tuesday.
He tied a career low with a final round 65 on Tuesday to move into a share of medalist honors with Brycen Jones of Georgia Southern at 10-under par. Adler was tied for sixth at 4-under when play was suspended Monday night due to darkness.
The native of Winnetka, Illinois posted four birdies in the third round in addition to a pair of eagles on the par-5 third and 15th holes. Adler notched back-to-back 69s in the opening two rounds, and including his 65 in the third, has posted each of his last six rounds in the 60s. He entered play at the Windon in late September with just two rounds in the 60s in his college career.
Adler also earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week recognition on Wednesday, Oct. 2 for his play in MU’s last event, the Windon Memorial Classic, which Adler won by five strokes for his first career college golf medalist honor.
Marquette concludes fall competition on Monday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct. 22 in the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. The Golden Eagles defeated Illinois to win the event last fall at NCR.
