MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A sex offender from Manitowoc County has been accused of new child pornography crimes.
On Tuesday, a federal grand jury issued an indictment against Robert D. Nytes, 49, of Kossuth — a small town in Manitowoc County. The indictment alleges Nytes produced child pornography as a registered sex offender.
According to officials, in February 2023, Nytes employed a minor “to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction.”
Nytes was previously convicted of second degree sexual assault of a child on two separate occasions in Sheboygan County and ordered to register as a sex offender.
If convicted of producing child pornography, Nytes faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 35 years imprisonment and up to a lifetime term. He also faces a mandatory consecutive 10-year prison term if he is convicted of producing child pornography as a sex offender.
Nytes may also be fined up to $250,000.
