OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A resident inside an Oshkosh apartment unit that was on fire was rescued by two others inside the building.
Crews were dispatched to the fire at 1752 Taft Avenuejust after 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Fire alarms were going off and black smoke was reported.
Before crews arrived, the maintenance supervisor and a resident had pulled the resident from the apartment that was one fire.
The resident was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A few other residents were checked on the scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire was contained to the unit of origin, which sustained heavy smoke and fire damage. The unit above the unit of origin also sustained minor damage.
The occupants evacuated the complex and are being allowed to return to their apartments with the exception of the unit where the fire started and the one above it.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
