(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey – The Marquette University men’s soccer team (6-4-1, 2-1-0 BIG EAST) fell 1-0 to No. 15 Seton Hall (8-1-1, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) Friday evening.
The two squads began the contest with a possession battle that lasted for majority of the first half.
In the 35th minute Seton Hall connected and found the back the net after a through ball made its way past MU’s backline, giving the Pirates a 1-0 advantage.
The Golden Eagles had chances on goal but could not find the back of the net in the first half. MU registered two shots in the first half.
Marquette controlled possession and turned the offensive pressure in the second half. The Golden Eagles finished the second half with seven shots.
Despite the extra effort in the second half the Golden Eagles were unable to find the back of the net to tie the score.
Eight different Golden Eagles tallied a shot, Abdoul Karim Pare led MU with two shots on goal.
Marten Brink finished the night with two saves while facing seven shots.
