DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — St. Norbert College will formally inaugurate president Laurie Joyner this month.
Ceremonies are set for Oct. 10. They begin with a Mass of thanksgiving at 10:30 a.m. at St. Norbert Abbey. The inaugural ceremony is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in Walter Theatre, Abbot Pennings Hall of Fine Arts. An outdoor reception follows, which would be moved indoors in case of inclement weather.
“St. Norbert College is honored to welcome Dr. Laurie M. Joyner to the community. We’re inspired by her commitment to our mission and approach to attaining financial stability,” St. Norbert College Board Chair Patti Brash McKeithan said in a news release. “In her short time here, Dr. Joyner has worked closely with the board of trustees, faculty and staff to enhance the college’s academic offerings to reflect the interests of our prospective and current students. Her commitment to operational excellence has been evident since her first day on campus. She empowers faculty and staff, which allows them to continue to provide a quality education that has been a hallmark of this institution for 126 years.”
The theme of Joyner’s inauguration is “Preserving the Legacy.”
Joyner took over at St. Norbert in July 2023. She previously served as president at St. Xavier University in Chicago and Wittenberg University in Ohio.
