GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Republican State Representative David Steffen announced a plan to introduce the “Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Act” during the next session for the State Assembly.
According to a news release, the legislation would allow independent presidential candidates, and state or federal candidates who suspend their campaigns to prevent their name from appearing on Wisconsin ballots.
It goes on to say that candidates would have a set of requirements and deadlines to work through with the Wisconsin Elections Commission and create parity with the timelines for major party presidential candidates and independent presidential candidates.
Steffen’s plan comes as the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday to keep Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Wisconsin’s ballots.
Kennedy had filed a lawsuit in Wisconsin earlier this month to remove him from the ballot after suspending his campaign in August and endorsing Republican nominee Donald Trump.
