GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay Area Public School District board members were supposed to vote on a nearly complete overhaul of the job description for superintendent Monday night.
However, the vote was tabled until October to allow for changes to be made to the wording.
The Board was split on their reasoning to delay the vote, but all agreed that more time needs to be spent on the job description.
Some members said it comes out-of-sequence with their new strategic plan, and others say they need to finalize the plan before they pick the next person to lead the district.
Board members also discussed worries of the job description’s wording being too general.
“The document as it is written is too general in that it lacks specificity of objectives — particularly key performance indicators,” said Trustee Rick Crosson.
Without specific examples of re-wording readily available, the Board voted to come back when the expectations were in clearer focus.
Treasurer Andrew Becker added, “I don’t think it’s the place where you would put a granular, percentage benchmark of student achievement in a job description.”
The Green Bay Public School District has been with a permanent Superintendent since the resignation of Doctor Claude Tiller Junior in February.
