(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers battled back to tie the game against the Arizona Diamondbacks but gave up 3 runs in the sixth inning and went on to lose 7-4 at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Friday.
Trailing 4-0 in the fifth inning, the Brewers tied the game on a solo home run by Joey Ortiz, a 2-run home run by William Contreras and a solo home run by Garrett Mitchell.
Arizona then responded in the sixth inning with a go-ahead solo home run by Lourdes Gurriel, a single by Corbin Carrol and a bases-loaded walk to Randall Grichuk.
Colin Rea started for the Brewers, went 4 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and a walk.
DL Hall came in and lasted just an 1 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and a walk. Hall took the loss and fell to 1-2.
Zac Gallen got the win for Arizona and improved to 13-6.
The 2 teams will meet again Saturday night at American Family Field.
With the loss, the Brewers are now 4 games behind both Los Angeles and Philadelphia in the battle to have 1 of the top 2 records in the National League. The top 2 teams get a first-round bye in the playoffs.
