WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A drunk driver who caused the crash which injured three people was sentenced Friday to three years of probation.
Daniel Pachecobolanos told police he had four beers in the time leading up to the crash on Highway 10, but he drove because his friends had had too much to drink.
Pachecobolanos, 36, pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree recklessly endangering safety and causing injury by operating while intoxicated for the March 25 crash. Two other counts were dismissed.
In addition to probation, Judge Vicki Clussman suspended his driver’s license for a year, ordered restitution, and sentenced him to 30 days in jail, which he has already served, court records show.
At 7:55 p.m. on March 25, officials responded to a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 10 in the town of Weyauwega. Deputies say an eastbound vehicle was traveling in the westbound lane and collided with a westbound car.
Pachecobolanos said he and friends were on their way to Neenah from a restaurant near Weyauwega.
“He told me he decided to drive due to his friends drinking too much. I asked him how much he had to drink, he told me four Michelob Ultras,” the criminal complaint quotes from an officer’s report.
His BAC was .089, court records show.
Pachecobolanos did not have a valid driver’s license, and had no previous drunk driving offenses, the complaint states.
