(WTAQ-WLUK) — The mother of three-year-old Elijah Vue, whose remains were recently found in Two Rivers, released a statement through her lawyer.
Katrina Baur, along with her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, face child neglect charges related to the condition of the home and treatment of her son, Vue. Both remain in jail.
Baur’s lawyer, Amber Gratz, released the following statement:
Katrina Baur is devastated by the most recent news, identifying the remains found as Elijah. She had continued to have hope that her little boy would be found alive. At this time, she is mourning the loss of her son.
Vue was reported missing on Feb. 20 by Vang.
Prosecutors say Baur sent her son to live with Vang at his Two Rivers apartment for “disciplinary reasons.”
An Amber Alert was issued and over the course of the next seven months, extensive searches were conducted by law enforcement and volunteers.
On Sept. 7, a man who was preparing his land for hunting season found human remains just to the north of Manitou. Last week, authorities confirmed the human remains found were of Vue.
To this point, neither Baur nor Vang has been charged in connection with Vue’s death.
