GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 26-year-old Green Bay man was arrested after an hours-long standoff Monday on the city’s east side.
The incident took place in the 800 block of S. Baird Street. It began when the man was seen “making threatening gestures” at Green Bay police officers who were in the area speaking with neighbors about recent disturbances, “causing safety concerns.”
Additional officers were dispatched around 12:45 p.m. to take the man into custody on criminal charges.
When he barricaded himself inside his home and refused to come out, despite police orders, the Green Bay Police Department’s SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene. Because the man did not surrender,SWAT and K9 officers “were forced to enter the home to make the arrest.”
The man was taken into custody without further incident around 5:45 p.m.
Charges are being referred to the Brown County District Attorney’s Office.
