GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Packers use a dominant ground game, excellent game management from backup QB Malik Willis and 3 interceptions from the defense.
It adds up to a 16-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts Sunday at Lambeau Field.
The chants of ‘Go Pack Go,’ are once again bellowing from fans at Lambeau Field after the team’s first win of the season.
Before the game, fans were keeping an open mind about quarterback Malik Willis, filling in for the injured Jordan Love.
“This game, I’m not sure, but the next couple games, probably, he could be better every game just because of the system he’s in, but you never know. It’s week two in the NFL, anything can happen,” said Packers fan Kelley Logan, from Louisville, Kentucky.
“I feel confident. I trust everyone, I trust LaFleur, trust the team, I’m excited, vibes are great. I’m feeling good,” said fan Jack Messenger.
By the time the clock hit zero — backers of the Packers gave Willis a passing grade.
“You know, it’s growing pains, and I think he passed the first test today. And I think he’s only going to get stronger from here on out. Gained some confidence,” said Dave Glasgow.
More than 77,000 were in attendance Sunday — a day that was unusually hot for regular season football.
That heat had people rushing to stay hydrated, which proved to be difficult, as some fans say concession stands began to run low on cold water after the first quarter.
“We walk into the level, and they’re like ‘hey, can we get water.’ And we walked around and there was nothing like available. On the, yeah the whole 300 level,” said Tanner Beckman.
The Packers say concessions were eventually replenished.
With eight more games remaining at home for the Packers in the regular season — fans are looking forward to making more memories.
“No matter where you’re from or what team you support, when you’re here in Green Bay, you’re just, we’re all here for the same purpose, to have fun. And, it’s a great environment, it’s contagious,” said Scott Champion.
