GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A plea deal may be in the works for the author known as “Uncle Fester.”
Steven Preisler, 66, gained renown for his books on how to make ricin, methamphetamine and other drugs. Last year, he was charged with multiple drug manufacturing and delivery counts. Since then, additional charges, including drug possession and bail jumping, have been added.
Thursday’s court appearance was for the first two sets of charges, which were filed in July and August 2023. He has pleaded not guilty to a total of 11 counts in those cases.
Attorney Eric Maciolek said Preisler is reviewing a plea offer from the state. Details of the possible deal were not addressed in court. Another hearing is set for Sept. 12.
A Sept. 12 arraignment was already scheduled on four bail jumping charges and one THC possession count.
The first criminal complaint states the amount of methamphetamines allegedly found in his home could last the average user anywhere from 328 days to over 3,000 days. Preisler has repeatedly disputed that the items seized were illegal substances.
Preisler also faces a civil suit filed by the city of Green Bay, seeking to have his Baird Street home declared a public nuisance in order to be sold or razed. No hearings are currently scheduled in that case.
