APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Many area children headed back to school Tuesday.
Appleton middle schools are welcoming 6th graders this year as part of a now-completed referendum project.
This helps solve capacity issues at the elementary schools.
Superintendent of the Appleton Area School District, Greg Hartjes, says the middle level is a more age-appropriate group for the 6th grade students’ development.
- 6th graders from Berry, Foster, Horizons, Johnston, McKinley and Richmond Elementary schools now attend Madison Middle School.
- 6th graders from Badger, Dunlap, Highlands and Jefferson Elementary schools are now enrolled at Wilson Middle School.
- 6th graders from Columbus, Edison, Franklin and half of Huntley Elementary school students now attend Kaleidoscope Middle School.
- 6th graders from Ferber, Houdini and half of Huntley Elementary school students now attend Einstein Middle School.
