(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers got good pitching from Freddy Peralta but the bullpen faltered for the second straight day as St. Louis defeated the Brewers 3-0 at St. Louis Thursday afternoon.
Brewers reliever Nick Mears loaded the bases and then walked Willson Contreras with the bases loaded to force in 1 run with Nolan Arenado stroking a single to drive in 2 more. 2.
Mears said some bad luck isn’t an excuse for the rough seventh inning.
The Brewers wasted an otherwise good start from Freddy Peralta who pitched 5 scoreless innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 2 walks while striking out 2.
St. Louis starting pitcher Miles Mikolas was tough. Mikolas pitched 6 innings of 2 hit ball.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about the outing by Mikolas.
Murphy also said what made Mikolas successful.
Milwaukee which finished with just 3 hits is in Oakland to face the A’s for fhe first of a 3-game weekend series tonight.
