MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — An original member of Governor Tony Evers’ cabinet is moving on.
Secretary of Transportation Craig Thompson announced on Friday he’s leaving his position in September to become UW Madison’s vice chancellor of public relations.
Thompson was one of Evers’ first cabinet picks in January 2019.
Evers will appoint DOT Deputy Secretary Kristina Boardman in his place.
Boardman’s been with the agency for 20 years and served as the head of the DMV. She thanked Evers for the vote of confidence and said she’ll continue his directive to “fix the darn roads.”
