GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Appleton’s airport is showing off its $66 million expansion progress.
Dubbed the fastest growing airport in Wisconsin, Appleton International Airport offered members of the media a tour Wednesday.
The 47,000 square-feet expansion will more than double its size to better serve the more than one-million passengers that use the airport annually. The gate area will be expanded, bringing the total number of gates to 10.
Officials say the construction is on schedule. The addition will be closed off during the winter of 2025 and phased completion will start in spring of 2025.
However, a portion of the project will be operational in time for the 2025 NFL Draft in April.
Other features in the expansion include a Biergarten, an additional bar/restaurant in the gate area, expanded restroom facilities, a sensory support room, a quiet room, and a service animal relief area.
Appleton International Airport is served by American, Delta, and United airlines and is the only Wisconsin airport served by Allegiant Airlines.
