(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers showed some muscle in beating the Washington Nationals 8-3 Friday night in Washington, D.C.
The Brewers hit 3 doubles and a home run in the win.
The Brewers got doubles from Rhys Hopkins, Garrett Mitchell and Willy Adames and a home run from Wilson Contreras to back the pitching of Frankie Montas who was making his first start with the Brewers since being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds.
Montas allowed 3 runs on 9 hits over 5 innings with Joel Payamps, Hobie Milner, Jared Koenig and Elvis Peguero each pitching a scoreless inning in relief.
The Brewers took a 3-0 lead in the second inning but saw Washington tie the game with 2 runs in the third inning and 1 in the fourth.
The Brewers then scored 2 runs in the sixth, 1 in the seventh and 2 in the eighth to put the game away.
The 2 teams meet again Saturday afternoon with a 3:10 first pitch on 1360 and 97.5 WTAQ.
