TOWN OF WASHINGTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a deadly Shawano County motorcycle crash.
Around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, dispatch received a 911 call from an individual who found a motorcycle in the ditch and an unresponsive man laying in the field in the area of County Road E and Lodge Road in the town of Washington.
Upon arrival, CPR was in progress but unfortunately due to his injuries, the driver was pronounced dead on scene.
Deputies say the driver was identified as a 50-year-old man from the Pulaski area. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and was the only occupant of the motorcycle.
The initial investigation showed the motorcycle was traveling westbound on County Road E, approaching the curve at Lodge Road. Deputies say the driver did not slow down in time for the curve and went into the ditch where the driver lost control and flipped numerous times.
The crash remains under investigation.
