KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Kaukauna welcomed the completion of its first accessible playground Friday.
The city held a ribbon cutting for the new playground at La Follette Park.
The city’s community and enrichment director, Terri Vosters, says its Kaukauna’s first rubberized surface playground, allowing those who use mobility devices to access the playground.
It features a universal swing and lower transfer platforms for kids to ease into each play structure.
Vosters says the community wanted a playground that everyone can enjoy.
“As mayor mentioned earlier, this isn’t just a physical area, this is also a social interaction place for all generations so we’re really hoping that all cities and municipalities around the United States in general, are realizing how special these places are and how special it is to be outside and to be able to meet people, have fun, enjoy and feel like a whole, where you’re not being segregated to other areas,” Vosters said.
The playground was funded through American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds.
