(WNFL) – Bryce Turang hit a grand slam in the ninth inning to give the Milwaukee Brewers some hope but that’s all it was the Brewers lost 6-4 to the San Diego Padres in San Diego on Saturday.
Jackson Merrill hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning for his 10th home run of the season to put the Padres up 3-0. Ha-Seong Kim moments later hit a solo shot to make it 4-0 San Diego.
Both home runs came off Brewers starting pitcher Carlos Rodriguez.
Kyle Higashioka made 6-0 with a tw0-run home run off Jeff Junis in the seventh.
Turang then made the game close with his bases-loaded home run in the ninth inning for Milwaukee.
Rodriguez took the loss for the Brewers to fall to 0-3. He went four innings and allowed four runs on six hits. His ERA climbed up to 7.30.
Junis, making his first appearance since coming off the injured list, gave up two runs on four hits in three innings.
Randy Vasquez got the win for San Diego.
The two teams meet in the final game of the series Sunday afternoon with a 3:10 first pitch. The game can be heard on 1360 and 97.5 WTAQ.
