DAIRY NEWS – Summer internships are underway, providing college students with real-world experiences and an opportunity to build networks ahead of graduation. Agriculture industry employers can add even more value to their organization’s internship program by registering students for the PDP Accelerate™ workshop presented by the Professional Dairy Producers® (PDP).
PDP Accelerate will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Madison East in Madison, Wisconsin. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., with the workshop running from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The program registration fee includes all workshop materials and lunch.
“The one-day workshop is scheduled toward the end of the traditional summer internship timeframe so interns can build on the skills they’ve already learned and prepare for success in a job search and the workforce,” said Amber Cafferty, Marketing and Development Coordinator at PDP.
Michael Hoffman, founder and owner of Igniting Performance Inc, a Dallas-based company that specializes in the skills of sales, customer loyalty and leadership, will facilitate the workshop. Hoffman will lead interns through hands-on and interactive sessions to improve their ability to initiate meaningful conversations, leverage technology effectively, exude confident body language, navigate diverse team dynamics, solicit and implement constructive feedback, and expand their professional networks.
Breanna Bongle, 2023 program attendee, noted, “One of the things I really liked about Accelerate is that we were able to talk to so many different people in the agriculture industry and understand what their jobs are like. Today, I’m able to apply what I learned to my everyday job as I am always communicating with new people.”
