DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Main Avenue on De Pere’s west side is closed to traffic after a truck with a trailer crashed into a train.
De Pere Police say Main Avenue is closed between Fifth Street and Ft. Howard. There is no westbound traffic beyond Fifth Street.
Police say the truck with a trailer hauling a tractor was driving westbound on Main Avenue and the train was going southbound. The truck was unable to stop for the train and as the truck tried to go around the train, it is believed the train made contact with the trailer, causing it to flip on its side.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternative routes to cross the Fox River as traffic is backing up over the Claude Allouez Bridge.
Police say no one was hurt.
They hope to have Main Avenue open around 1 p.m. as it awaits for Railway Police to arrive.
