(UWOSHKOSH) -UW-Oshkosh softball advanced to the third NCAA Division III College World Series for the third time in program history by sweeping the Oshkosh Regional on May 16-18 and mounting a comeback victory over defending national champion Trine University (Ind.) during the Angola Super Regional on May 23-24.
This year’s World Series is hosted by East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas.
Fourth-seeded UW-Oshkosh will play fifth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan University at 1:30 p.m. central time on Thursday (May 30).
The Titans earned a program record six to the All-WIAC First Team and four to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region VIII Team. Sydney Nemetz (Jr. • Marinette) was named the Pitcher of the Regional All-Tournament Team and was joined by three teammates on the team. Hannah Ritter (Sr. • Marengo, Ill.), the all-time WIAC hits leader, and Brianna Bougie (Fr. • Oshkosh), who pitched all 14 innings against Trine on May 24, were named Player and Pitcher of the Angola Super Regional respectively after winning the second two games of the best-of-three Super Regional.
The Titans will leave for Marshall on Tuesday at noon from the UW-Oshkosh Softball Park.
