OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One person was injured in what police called a “substantial battery incident” at an Oshkosh treatment center for state prison residents.
Around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC), located at 1505 North Drive, to investigate a battery incident.
Officials say it was an isolated incident between two individuals in the facility’s courtyard area and there is no risk to the public.
A 56-year-old male was injured and is being treated at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah. The other person involved in the incident was a 41-year-old male. No one else was hurt.
Neither one of the individuals involved was an employee of the WRC, officials said.
The Oshkosh Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident.
According to its website, the Wisconsin Resource Center is “a leader in the development of innovative treatment methods for state prison residents in need of specialized mental health services. These services restore their potential to live a full, rewarding life in the community.”
