GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Stephen Preisler — the author known as “Uncle Fester” for his books on how to make ricin, methamphetamine and other drugs who faces multiple drug manufacturing and delivery charges — preliminarily tested positive for meth this week, a prosecutor said Friday.
Meanwhile, a civil lawsuit filed by the city of Green Bay against Preisler — seeking to have his Baird Street home declared a public nuisance in order to be sold or razed — is on hold while the criminal case continues. A status conference was held earlier this week, but no future court dates were set.
A status hearing was held Friday in the criminal cases, where the attorneys discussed the evidence and possible motions in the case, but no decisions were made. Preisler returns to court June 20.
Assistant District Attorney Wendy Lemkuil said Preisler, who is out on bond, submitted a sample this week for a drug test, which came back as positive for meth. He explained it was due to exposure to others during the Easter holiday, Lemkuil said. The state asked for additional tests to confirm the results.
Judge John Zakowski added a bond condition that Preisler not associate with any known drug users or dealers, in addition to the existing absolute sobriety requirement.
Preisler originally faced eight counts, filed in July: four of manufacture or delivery of amphetamine, and one count each of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possess methamphetamine precursors, and maintaining a drug trafficking house. After he posted bond, he was arrested again and charged with three more counts. A cocaine possession charge was dropped after crime lab results were returned.
The criminal complaint states the amount of methamphetamines allegedly found in his home could last the average user anywhere from 328 days to over 3,000 days.
