(WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin Public Service crews have surpassed the 100,000 mark in terms of customers whose power has been restored after winter storms.
In the days after the storm, thousands of customers were left in the dark.
Power restoration are continuing into Friday. More than 400 workers from across the Midwest are in northeastern and north-central Wisconsin are repairing the damages.
Wisconsin Public Service spokesperson Matt Cullen says most of those still without power today should have it restored by the end of the day.
As of about 1:30 p.m. Friday, there were still more than 13,000 customers without power. That was down from nearly 80,000 on Thursday morning. We Energies reported only 120 customers without power.
During a power outage, WPS recommends keeping your refrigerator and freezer doors closed as much as possible, use flashlights and not candles, wear layers, close blinds or drapes and avoid opening doors to retain heat and leave a light on to know when power is restored. If you’re using a generator, avoid generator overload.
