GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Investigators are attempting to determine the cause of a fire at a restaurant Tuesday in Grand Chute.
Crews were dispatched to an IHOP, located at 4101 W. Wisconsin Avenue, after restaurant employees reported seeing smoke in the building and coming from an outside vent above the ceiling.
Units first on scene observed a fire above the dining room ceiling panels. Firefighters “extinguished the fire within minutes after arrival” and located remaining pockets of fire, which had burned a hole in the restaurant’s roof structures.
Although the fire was confined to a small area of the building, smoke was present throughout the entire restaurant. Fire personnel remained on scene for about 2.5 hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Estimated damages were not provided. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
