(WNFL) – The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball season came to an uncharacteristic halt with a 72-61 loss to James Madison in an NCAA first-round game in Brooklyn, NY.
Wisconsin which never led in the game trailed and trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half were down by 13 (33-20) at the break.
Wisconsin turned the ball over – 19 times – in the game which was uncharacteristic for a team that took care of the ball well during the regular season. The Badgers shot 26 percent in the first half and 36 percent for the game and allowed 14 steals.
Max Klesmit led Wisconsin with 18 points. AJ Storr and Steven Crowl added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for Wisconsin which finishes its season with a 21-14 record.
Klesmit said the Badgers never found their rhythm.
Badgers coach Greg Gard said that they were able to make it close in the second half.
James Madison which turned the ball over 12 times and outscored Wisconsin 27-10 points off turnovers was led by Terrance Edwards Jr with 14 points. TJ Bickerstaff and Julien Wooden both scored 12 points while Michael Green III added 11 for James Madison which is now 32-3.
