MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Sheriff’s officials are looking for additional victims or witnesses after arresting a man for an alleged sexual assault.
Michael Kornely, 74, of Francis Creek was arrested Thursday. Sheriff’s officials are recommending he be charged with second-degree sexual assault, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child and exposing a child to harmful materials. While no formal charges have been filed. Kornely appeared in court Friday, where his bond was set at $15,000.
The arrest stemmed from a February tip. During their investigation, sheriff’s officials developed reason to believe Kornely’s behavior, including going online to try to meet a child for sexual contact, has been going on for “a substantial amount of time.” Any additional victims or witnesses are asked to contact Detective Brandon Radke by email at brandonradke@manitowoccountywi.gov or by phone at (920) 683-4217.
