Neenah girls tearfully accept second place at state.
The Warhawks of Arrowhead High School are the Girls Division 1 state basketball champions after beating the Neenah Rockets 69-59 at the Resch Center Saturday night. The final game of the 2024 tournament boiled down to a fantastic matchup between two of the top players in the state. The Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Ms Basketball for the year was Neenah senior Allie Ziebell. She followed up a 40 point effort in the semifinals with 35 in the championship game, the 75 combined points was the second most effort in state history. While the point total wasn’t matched, Natalie Kussow of Arrowhead came close, piling up 26 points including six straight late in the game that gave the Warhawks a comfortable margin to the finish. Kussow scored 33 in Arrowhead’s semifinal victory on Friday night. With the win, Arrowhead captured it’s third championship in school history. Neenah finished the year 24-6.
