GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Packers scored solid marks on their second annual Team Report Card from the NFL Players Association en route to a top 3 finish.
1,706 NFL players provided information about their current club in an effort, according to the NFLPA, to raise standards across the league and to help fellow players make important career decisions.
One of our core jobs as a union is to improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras.Our goals were to highlight positive clubs, identify areas that could use improvement, and highlight best practices and standards.
Report cards are broken down into 11 total categories. Green Bay received three grades in the A level, seven in the B level and one in the C level, ranking third out of the 32 NFL teams. The Miami Dolphins received first place and the Minnesota Vikings took the second spot.
Treatment of Families: C+ (10th)
Although the Packers provide a family room at Lambeau Field, they are one of seven teams who do not provide daycare support for players’ children on gameday.
Food/Cafeteria: B+ (6th)
Grades in this category were determined based on food taste and food freshness.
Nutritionist/Dietician: B (14th)
Only 76% of Packers players felt they got an individualized plan.
Locker Room: B- (15th)
92% of Packers players feel the Lambeau Field locker room is big enough and 88% feel they have enough room in their individual lockers. However, players feel the locker room could use some updating.
Training Room: B (11th)
91% of Packers players feel they have enough full-time trainers and 82% feel they have enough full-time physical therapists. 98% of players feel they have enough hot tub space and 100% feel they have enough cold tub space. However, players feel that they could use more physical therapists on staff to help with rehabilitation.
Training Staff: B (16th)
The Packers’ head trainer received the fourth-highest individual grade among trainers in the NFL. 86% of players feel like they receive enough one-on-one treatment. Overall, players feel training staff “moderately contributes” to their success.
Weight Room: A (7th)
Packers players feel they have high-quality equipment and “more than enough space” in the weight room.
Strength Coaches: A- (8th)
93% of Packers players feel like they get an individualized plan from their strength coaches. They feel the coaches “significantly contribute” to their success.
Team Travel: B+ (4th)
The Packers do not require players to have roommates before games. 93% of players feel like they have a comfortable amount of personal space during flights.
Head Coach: B+ (21st)
92% of players feel Matt LaFleur is efficient with their time. They feel he is “moderately willing” to listen to the locker room.
Ownership: A (6th)
Packers players gave President and CEO Mark Murphy a 9.5/10 when considering his willingness to reinvest in the team’s facilities.
