GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The City of Green Bay is kicking off of the planning process to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan. Green Bay’s new Comprehensive Plan will serve as the City’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years.
Informed by community consensus, community vision, existing conditions, and future potentials, the Comprehensive Plan will be a road map to the future; guiding policy decisions and helping the community achieve its long-term goals.
The Comprehensive Plan will address several topics, including land use and development, transportation and mobility, community facilities and infrastructure (including parks and open space), and the City’s districts, corridors, and nodes.
City officials say the Green Bay Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community; with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input received from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
Over the next year, residents can stay active and aware of the project as it progresses by tracking it through the project website, GoBigGreenBay.com
The project website includes several ways to get involved and share your thoughts, including in-person events, community festivals, online surveys, and an interactive mapping tool.
- Online Community Survey – The online community survey asks questions about important issues and opportunities facing Green Bay that the Comprehensive Plan should address.
- map.social – Map.social is an online tool where residents can map issues and opportunities in Green Bay by dropping a point and entering a comment. Map.social allows points of interest to be identified, categorized, and mapped, bringing together ideas from the whole community.
- Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Workshop Kits – Run your own workshop with the DIY Workshop Kit. Gather friends, family, and neighbors to collect feedback to share with the project team. Input will help guide Green Bay’s future. The project team must receive your completed DIY Kit by May 1st, 2024. To get DIY Kit, email planning@greenbaywi.gov.
- Community Visioning Workshop – Save the date for the city’s first public meeting, Wednesday, April 24, 2024. This will provide residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to develop their vision for the future of the community. Check project website for location and meeting updates.
